Considering a Valentine's Day wedding? When the annual holiday dedicated to romance falls on a weekend, you can be sure there will be plenty of competition for the reception site of your choice -- book early! If you're willing to wed mid-week, and the holiday falls then, you could save versus a regular weekend date, though -- especially versus the prime dates in your region. Other things to consider: Flowers can be extra expensive in February, and your favorite blooms might be hard to get or even unavailable. Ditto for a wedding florist! Florists who do retail as well as weddings will find Valentine's Day one of their busiest holidays of the year. Would a destination wedding work for you? February weather can be daunting in many parts of the country (snow can be romantic and make a lovely photo backdrop, but an unexpected blizzard could make travel difficult for your guests). It's a great time of year to head to Florida, Hawaii, or much of the Southwest and California, though. A destination wedding with a few select guests to a warm location can be a fun way to celebrate your wedding -- and, it might even save money versus a traditional event. |
